Rig Breakdown
18K Modulus-X Telehandler Rig
about the rig
Universal studios backlot shoot for a massive discount retailer. This was day 3 of 3 days. The backlot was set up well to work nicely with the sun, but the location the director chose was in a little nook that lost sunlight during the 2nd half of the day. So we built this telehandler rig for a few 18k's. Constructed with Modulus-X Mx|99| truss. The base of the rig comprised of a laminated row of 4x 6' truss all bolted together top to bottom. On the bottom 6' piece we bolted a 10' stick to the front of that and a steel pipe under the 10' for the lights. Wooden chalks filled the space between the truss and telehandler carriage. 9"x9" cubes (also from ModX) along with king pin plates from Division rentals secured over the kingpin and then were also bolted to the row of 6 foots for added safety. Additionally, the truss and wood were separately ratcheted to the telehandler carriage with 2" & 1" endless ratchets, respectively. 2x speedrail starters with 5/8" threaded receivers were used on the underside of the 10' stick on either end for the steel pipe. All truss is manufactured by Modulus-X and rented from Division Rentals
