Rig Breakdown
Pivoting 12x20 Condor Bounce
about the rig
A 12x20 checkerboard bounce on a condor that pivots on its center axis. Built for an outdoor commercial in a creek-side location surrounded by pines, where there was no high-and-tight stand position for the bounce we needed - so the rig had to come off the condor and chase the sun across the day without coming down for re-rigs. The build is a 12x18 checkered muslin on speedrail. The trick was to undersize the frame width-wise so our 20' steel pipe could span from side to side. We added an additional vertical rib in the center. We hard-mounted the frame to the basket for integrity, but with a few specific Hollaender short barrel cross fittings deliberately left loose at the pivot points. Lines run from the frame corners to the operator in the bucket pivot the frame up and down. We added floor flanges to the vertical pipes and on the outer sides of the loose short barrels to make sure everything was secure and stayed that way. The operator aims the bounce instead of coming down and re-rigging it.
